Jorge Luis is a recognized teacher of Inca spirituality and is considered a learned spiritual guide by people in many parts of the world. He has been invited to the United States, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey to lecture on his vast knowledge and understanding of Inca wisdom, culture and traditions and their essence in our lives today. Jorge Luis is an indigenous Peruvian of Aymara heritage, who has been employed for over twenty years in tourism in the Sacred Valley, including Machu Picchu, and the Lake Titicaca region of Peru and Bolivia. It took many years and some very unusual events to shape Jorge Luis into a modern Inca chacaruna who effortlessly blends being a businessman and family man with performing powerful Inca ceremonies. Jorge Luis Delgado has given us Andean Awakening: An Inca Guide to Mystical Peru. From cover to cover, Andean Awakening is a walk with Delgado through "Mystical Peru" and his own spiritual evolution. We follow Jorge as he quite unintentionally becomes recognized in his community as a chacaruna or "bridge person who helps one cross from one state of consciousness to other states of consciousness or other realms." The story continues up to and through the life of Jorge as "Peru's premier spiritual tour guide."

Many landscapes or ancient bui ldings and ruins have provided Peru with countless legends of Gods and UFOs that have made their impact on the communities there.

Jorge describes the places he visits and tells of personal experiences that give some of these legends credit enough to be more than just hearsay. Andean Awakening is much more than a simple tour of Peru. It is the life of a man who has lived Peru.

Jorge has used his experience as a tour guide and experiences with people he's met to evolve his own and his "clients" spiritually. The book features many key points in Jorge's life and with these points come even more key messages. When asked a question on how to live a message without letting everyday routine bog it back down into meaninglessness, Jorge responded:

"It is important to live in the understanding that people think differently and will often behave in ways we don't agree with or understand. Yes, it is necessary to seek truth and speak the truth, but, very often, people have different ideas of what is true and just. It is important to realize that not everyone thinks in the same way or is at the same point in seeking the Divine. Do what you can to remedy or ease any situation that you feel is unjust, but do not live in a sate of retaliation. Holding on to heavy, angry emotions robs you of your joy and your ability to progress to higher levels of expanded consciousness."

What I thought was a profound book of experiences and landscapes, Jorge claims is "only a little grain of information from the vast spiritual heritage of the Incas". Thinking that there is a vast wealth of knowledge left after all that Andean Awakening has covered seems impossible. Either way, Andean Awakening was truly a great read.
