"The Dreaming Goddess was a shamanic trance-channeling priestess who ventured deeply into the darkness for divine inspiration. She was an oracle, dreaming visions of wholeness for one's personal healing, the benefit of the community and Mother Earth. She was found in an alcove in an underground temple on the Island of Malta, dating back approximately 6,000 years ago."

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting The Dreaming Goddess in Poughkeepsie, NY for the first time.  It was absolutely wonderful!

I had gone with my fiance's mother to their Women's Full Moon Circle, and had an exciting yet peaceful and spiritual experience- I can't wait to go back!!! It was led by Rhianna, who worked the circle beautifully and is an absolutely wonderful soul!

Of course, I didn't make it out of the store without buying two tarot decks and a bar of gingered dark chocolate in a beautiful Fairy wrapper. I couldn't resist! There were so many wonderful things that I wanted to buy out the whole store! I could spend hours in there and still find new items I haven't seen before. There was everything from crystals and stones to books, clothing, tarot decks, fairies, jewlery, Native American items, beautiful gift cards, wands, and so much more!

Here is their list of some items at The Dreaming Goddess:

"We carry magical gifts that inspire. Our extensive selection of distinctive sterling and costume jewelry includes many one-of-a-kind pieces. Collectible fairies and mermaid statuary and artwork by artists Amy Brown, David Delmore, Nene Thomas, Jessica Galbreth, Brian Froud and others, adorn the walls and shelves. Dragons and witches and gargoyles, Oh My...

You'll also find a great selection of:

Candles ~ Essential oils ~ Incense ~ Crystals ~ Ritual items
100’s of Tarot decks & Oracles ~ Divination tools ~ Self-empowerment books
Goddesses ~ Talismans ~ Shamanic tools ~ Statuary

Our fine line of Women’s attire speaks to the slightly funkier side of ourselves whether at work, at play or even semi-formal. We also carry a full line of belly dance garb ~ skirts ~ coin hip scarves ~ choli tops ~ veils."

I had mentioned the Women's Full Moon Circle, and you're probably thinking, "What is that, exactly?" Well here it is in their website's words:

"Our Circle is a gathering of women to draw upon the magical and powerful energies available to us during the phase of thefull moon. We come together to create sacred space, share ritual, journey in meditation, and experience group energy.  It's healing, empowering and insightful.

We drum,
we chant,
we dance,
we laugh and we cry.
We feel connected to our Divine Source.

We are a non-denominational group, with our focus on the Goddess within each of us, the Mother Earth and all her children. The Full Moon Circle began in 1995 at Call of the Wild in Beacon. It moved to Poughkeepsie in 1999 when the shop relocated and became the Dreaming Goddess. The Circle has ebbed and flowed with our Lady Luna, but our intentions have remained true. Newcomer's are always warmly welcomed and encouraged as it is a safe haven to experience the sacredness of community."
