PITTSBURGH, PA — Miracles have converged to bring to Pittsburgh two prophetic voices addressing the needs of this historic moment that we are living in as we approach 2012—a sacred call to turn away from destruction and towards world unity. On Thursday, December 13 from 7 to 9: 30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh in Shadyside, the public is invited to attend a rare evening program—titled “There is a River Flowing Now, Very Fast”—and featuring two indigenous elders who are traveling to our city for the first time:

  • Quiche Mayan High Priest Don Alejandro Oxlaj is the primary keeper of the teachings, visions and prophecies of the Mayan people, day keeper of the Mayan calendar, and head of the National Mayan Council of Elders of Guatemala. He will speak on the Mayan Calendars and Prophecies, which have tracked and accurately predicted our planetary evolution over thousands of years. He has verified, and will further clarify Pittsburgh’s connection with the Mayan Prophecies, related to our Three Rivers and Pittsburgh’s role in assisting the planetary transformation predicted for 2012.

  • Mayan elder Flordemayo, one of the grandmothers of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, will speak about their work to bring peace to the world and “light the way through an uncertain future.” Born on the Nicaragua/Honduras border, she is a healer/curandera living in New Mexico, and founder of the Institute of Natural and Traditional Knowledge.

Also speaking at this evening program will be award-winning New York filmmaker Carole Hart, who is one of the original writers of Sesame Street and producer with Marlo Thomas of Free To Be… You and Me album and TV special. Ms. Hart is documenting the historic voices of the grandmothers in her film For the Next Seven Generations: The Grandmothers Speak.

The Grandmothers are women of prayer and action. They’ve come together from around the globe – the Arctic Circle, North, Central and South America, Asia and Africa – because they were told in prophecy that their ancestral ways of prayer, peace-making and healing are vitally needed in the world today. They speak in one united voice to awaken the people of the world to the catastrophic consequences we face if we don’t change the way we relate to each other and our Mother Earth. Accomplished indigenous healers/medicine women, the grandmothers inspire change through their living example. They actively collaborate with coalitions working to preserve the environment and create peace among peoples. Their film will bring their message to millions of people around the globe who are hungry for light and hope. For more information on their work, visit www.forthenext7generations.com   and www.grandmotherscouncil.com .

The December 13 event is sponsored by Pittsburgh-based inspired event planning company Epiphany Works, LLC ( www.epiphanyworks.org ).

For more information, email jennifer@epiphanyworks.org  or phone Vikki Hanchin at 412.241.7001.

Suggested donation is $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit production of the filmFor the Next Seven Generations: The Grandmothers Speak, which is 100 percent owned by the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers.

AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST: Electronic press kits and e-photos of the Grandmother Flordemayo and Don Alejandro are available upon request. Both are available for media interviews.
