Tim Shea’s first interests were in acting and singing and for many years he pursued his career in Boston, New York and Los Angles. He then transitioned into the corporate world and, for the past decade, sold information technology services and products to the business world. His journey of discovery is now taking him on the path of identifying work that more fully reflects his true nature and bringing it into form.

The Sufi Bookstore in Tribeca is an intimate and inexpensive venue that affords the singular opportunity to sit with renowned teachers from many traditions.

In one week alone this past November, Robert Thurman, Neelam and Wayne Liquormam were there. There were short talks during the week and intensives, usually on the weekend. Have a close look at the schedule, there are interesting events every week. If you want to know more or to put your name on their mailing list go to:

Please note the long-awaited arrival to Sufi Books of
Me and Rumi: The Autobiography of Shams-i Tabrizi, by William Chittick (Fons Vitae, $25.95). Shams-i-Tabrizi is the beloved friend and teacher that sent Rumi into whirling ecstasy. This is the first English translation from the Persian of a large percentage of Shams' discourses-his conversations with Rumi that were recorded by members of Rumi's circle, but published only fifteen years ago. Please join us on Monday, December 6th for a discussion with Professor Chittick (see below) and to order the book, please call Sufi Books.

Me & Rumi
ME & RUMI: The Story of Shams-i Tabrizi
When Rumi's beloved friend and teacher Shams-i Tabrizi suddenly disappeared, Rumi was thrown into turmoil and was soon transformed into the world's greatest poet of love. Ever since Shams' disappearance, people have speculated about what happened to him. William Chittick will discuss a number of
passages from his new book, Me and Rumi: The Autobiography of Shams-i Tabrizi, which is the first English translation from the Persian of a large percentage of Shams' "Discourses."

These are his conversations with Rumi that were recorded by members of Rumi's circle, but published only fifteen years ago. William C. Chittick has a Ph.D. in Persian literature from Tehran University and is professor of religious studies in the department of Asian and Asian-American Studies at Stony Brook University. He is author and translator of 20 books and 100 articles on Sufism, Shi'ism, and Islamic thought. His more recent work includes The Self-Disclosure of God: Principles of Ibn al-`Arabî's Cosmology; Sufism: A Short Introduction; The Heart of Islamic Philosophy and Meccan Revelations, volumes I & II (Pir Press). December 6 Monday 7 pm $10
