Earthing: Reconnecting with the Power of the Earth

I first heard of “Earthing,” the concept of connecting to and gaining energy from direct contact with the Earth, several years ago. I learned that the ancient yogis and Christian mystics knew about this great source of power and for that reason developed practices that involved going out into caves or the desert and sleeping on the ground. It not only improved their meditations but reportedly healed sickness and extended longevity.

I bought an Earthing mat and for years I have used it beneath my desk to rest my feet on whilst I was writing and working on the computer. It decreased electronic interference from EMF waves while increasing my energy and ability to focus, but after several months I forgot about it being there. Then recently I re-read the book, “Earthing”by Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra, and Martin Zucker, and my interest in the subject was renewed. I practice Qi Gong daily and have added more meditation to my routine and the idea of “grounding” my body was important.

One night I decided to do my evening meditation with my feet on the mat. I meditated for about 20 minutes and then went to bed. After several nights, I noticed quite a profound difference: I realized that I slept very deeply, and for the first time in years did not have to get up to use the bathroom. It was if the calming effect had reduced my kidney energy flow in a beneficial way, much like soothing an inflammation which apparently this practice is known for. I felt deeply rested and yet able to remember my dreams more clearly.

I found it has been deeply healing and I heartily recommend the “Earthing” book or some other method of familiarizing yourself with the practice. In a recent article, Dr. Mercola wrote about the health benefits of grounding and featured it in the film “Grounded 2.

Cooking With Qi & Conquering Any Disease

| by Merryn Jose

Like so many of us, I’ve been watching my nutrition and eating healthfully for years, buying only organic food and the very freshest ingredients possible. Also years ago, I cut out those foods that are known to damage our systems. I thought I was doing well until I heard about Qigong Master Jeff Primack and his food based healing system.

The Miracle of Castor Oil Packs by Merryn José

| by Merryn José

Merryn’s personal experience using castor oil packs for healing. ‘What I find most fascinating is that all parts of the castor plant are extremely poisonous to eat, but when the oil is extracted from the seed of the Ricinus communis plant, the poison remains in the seed, and it becomes “the oil that heals.”

Validating Your Spiritual Experience

| by Merryn Jose

Many years ago I, too, had what they now call an “STE,” or Spiritual Transformative Experience. Like others, I only told my mother and a few close friends at the time. In my case, I was fortunate in that it was not preceeded by an accident or life threatening illness, instead it came seemingly out of nowhere one evening. Just like a Near Death Experience, I was enveloped in light, spoke with guides, and felt the ecstatic bliss of unconditional love.

The Power of Homeopathy

| by Merryn Jose

Recently, I was shocked to read an article by Dr. Mercola stating that the Federal Trade Commission was cracking down on this well-respected form of natural medicine….Several years ago I was feeling unwell, and couldn’t pinpoint the source. I was chronically tired, unable to sleep through the night, had poor digestion, and finally broke out with eczema on my face and neck. Nothing I did seemed to help. Then a dear friend of mine recommended I see George Vithoulkas, the renowned homeopathist who treated Krishnamurti. I knew that homeopathy treated health issues by using minute amounts of ingredients similar to what caused the problem – what practitioners call treating “like with like.”

Going Beyond Our Genes: Bruce Lipton and the Study of Epigenetics

I first became interested in Bruce Lipton when I saw one of his broadcasts on Conscious TV. I found his lectures on Biology and Belief, and the power we have to affect our genes and DNA, to be absolutely fascinating. The idea that we can “switch off” a gene, or the predispostion to a disease fits with everything I know about the mind-body connection, and everything I believe to be true about the importance of mind over matter.

The Wisdom of Ayurveda

| by Merryn Jose

“Ayurveda” is Sanskrit for “Life-Knowledge,” and it is one of the oldest forms of ancient healing still in use today. While most Americans have heard of Ayurvedic medicine by now, few realize how many of our current herbal remedies come from the ancient Vedic texts. For example, the many benefits of eating yogurt, using turmeric and other spices were documented in India over 2000 years ago .
