Do you really know what your body is trying to tell you? Sahar Huneidi gets to the heart of the matter: “Your body can be your closest ‘source’ of spiritual guidance, acting as your own internal antenna for higher wisdom… you’d be well on your way to saving yourself a lot of trouble!”
Spiritual Body Language
Your body can be your closest ‘source’ of spiritual guidance, acting as your own internal antenna for higher wisdom. If you pay attention to the signals your body is transmitting, you begin to understand your own body language; armed with your own ‘dictionary’ you’d be well on your way to saving yourself a lot of trouble! As obvious as this may seem now, it was not when I first started developing my psychic abilities. Science increasingly reveals that the body (through a multitude of sensory network) feeds information ‘upwards’ to the brain; accordingly, the then brain sends ‘instructions’ downwards to various cells glands and organs. This is why our feelings can directly influence our well-being.
Your body can act as a teacher and be an effective tool towards wisdom. When I first began studying dream interpretation with Melanie J. Wood, I was instantly captivated. Melanie’s approach was not based on any ‘orthodox’ school of psychology, yet her interpretations seemed extremely relevant and helpful. One day we were discussing an old reoccurring dream of mine; when I was stunned by her interpretation. She also deduced that I first had this dream when I was about 5 years old (which I did not mention). How could she have known? She started to explain that she tunes into the sensations expressed in her body and would literally compose her interpretation according to the location and degree of sensation. Warm sensation or ‘needles and pins’ in the hands, arms, or feet; each had a different meaning. Her personal dictionary unfolded over years of practice; by the time I met her she had developed a complete language.
The guidance that your body can give can be on a very practical level too. I remember once, during a lunch break while at the local supermarket, how my palm suddenly turned cold as I reached for a tub of cottage cheese. I assumed this was because the tub was in a refrigerator but decided to test this new sensation further. So I then reached to grab the tub next to it and noticed that my palm went back to ‘normal’ temperature. I moved back to the first tub, and guess what? My palm went completely cold again. I spent few moments experimenting with this new sensation in disbelief. Both tubs were well within the same expiry date. This didn’t make sense, so the logical side of my brain decided to pick the first tub any way. When I got back to my desk I opened the tub only to find that the surface was completely covered with green mould! I learnt not to belittle body language as it can be useful on mundane level issues too!
How to tune into your body’s inner truth
As with any intuitive guidance tool, basic knowledge of symbology is needed. However, the most accurate interpretation ‘dictionary’ is one compiled individually by you according to your own experiences and feed back.
Keep a journal of any sensation you feel, and relate that to what you experience. Sensations in the left side of the body usually relate to intuition, feelings, creativity, and intentions. Are you listening to your feelings, have you expressed your abilities to their fullest potential? Sensations in the right side of the body relate to actions, plans and commitment to them. Are you over doing the action, or sitting on your plans?+
Listen to your ‘Gut Feeling’The solar plexus, the area just below the sternum and over the stomach; can be the quickest radar you have. Notice whether it is relaxed or ‘knotty’. If you sense an ‘aah!’ feeling- proceed; an ‘urgh’ sensation, be careful and avoid that choice!
