Manifestation 101 by Lisa Karmen

This week is potent.

On Thursday, March 1st we have a full Moon in Virgo the sign of differentiation and the ability to analyze as well as the physical body. The spectrum of Virgo analysis ranges from discernment on the positive side to excessive criticism on the negative side. Virgo also symbolizes distillation, purity, and devotion to that which serves the higher good. Every month the Full Moon sheds light on that which is in the shadows of the unconscious providing the opportunity for new awareness, deeper self-knowledge, and growth. This month in Virgo, the emphasis is on the relationship between our bodies and minds, specifically healing the split between the two by learning to turn off our minds and trust that our intuition will guide us safely to exactly where we need to be.

We are currently in a profound period of gestation that began at last December’s Winter Solstice. At that time a major new cycle began that is now forcing us to explore our own truth and to release the outdated belief systems that compromise that truth in order to fully manifest who we are individually and collectively: the planet Saturn (responsibility, commitment, restriction, material resources, bringer of structure and meaning to the world around us, the Teacher) moved into the sign of Capricorn (values of hard work and accomplishment, ambition, practicality, social responsibility, caution, quest for prestige, honor and success, achievement in the world, creation, structure, realization). The energetic combination of Saturn in Capricorn will be our guide for the next three years schooling us in creating and establishing new structures and systems that reflect both our individuality and our shared humanity. With Saturn in Capricorn it is imperative to understand the vast potential that is hidden in the collapse and destruction of the patriarchal, dualistic mind set. All is not lost. Hope abounds because the unity consciousness that is emblematic of the Aquarian Age is emergent.

Thursday’s Virgo Full Moon supports this deep evolution through its polar opposite relationship to Pisces, the sign of Spirit and the highest vibration of Universal Love. The Sun, the source of our life force vitality, is currently in the sign of Pisces dissolving our entrenched egos. In the collective unconscious of Pisces, the Sun is like a spiritual umbilical cord sending masses of waxing solar energy to feed and support the new ideas and attitudes that have been gestating since the Winter Solstice. On the Spring Equinox (3/20) when the sun moves into the sign of Aries (Initiation, the Self, Creativity, Dynamism) these new ideas and attitudes will be born.

Prior to the Spring Equinox we will experience the New Moon in Pisces (3/17). New Moons are when the Sun and Moon unite in the heavens initiating a new monthly cycle.  New Moons activate our self-perception and how we engage the world. Therefore, the existential questions to ponder as Thursday’s Full Moon reveals what is hidden in the shadows, and March 17th’s New Moon inspires the creative daring needed to take the first step on the path towards new consciousness and ways of being as we approach the Spring Equinox are: Who would you be if you fully became yourself? How do you let go of the fears that prevent you from shining your light and being true to your soul?  What do you need to let go of in order to allow yourself to be guided by the wisdom of your heart? Where can you take actions to lead and live with joy and inclusiveness instead of fear and divisiveness?

Energetically, The New Year begins with the Solar New Year at the Spring Equinox not with the calendar year on January 1. The cosmic message for the period of time between now and the Spring Equinox is to surrender to the unknown because life renews itself from what is hidden. In this bardo, practice taking care of yourself, muse on where you are and where you want to be, listen to your heart, trust your intuition despite what your head says, release whatever no longer serves or identifies you. We are in the Piscean waters of potentiality… rub the lamp of wishes to invite in the new and extraordinary and rest assured that over the course of the next three years Saturn in Capricorn will teach us how to manifest the new and extraordinary.  This is not an airy fairy promise but a reminder that with a great deal of focus, hard work, and unflagging commitment to manifesting a higher vibration we have the power and agency to effect change and to positively impact ourselves, our lives, our relationships, and our planet (Saturn in Capricorn). And don’t forget that Quantum Physicists are currently proving that “thoughts are things” which means that what our minds focus on becomes reality… Embrace this truth and take a leap of faith into the Quantum Field where anything and everything is possible especially because 2018 is a “2” year in numerology representing the Divine Feminine as well as peace, balance, cooperation, partnership, and unity between differing entities.

One final note: there is a special energetic planetary bonus in conjunction to this week’s Full Moon on Thursday: the planets Jupiter (expansion, aspiration of the higher self) and Venus (love, beauty, relationship, ruler of the law of attraction, values) make a trine (an easy flow of energy). This relationship is known as the “Law of Abundance” aspect by spiritually oriented astrologers. Trines are gifts however, one needs to engage the energy to align with the potential…  So make time on Thursday to visualize what you want to manifest in 2018… light a candle, make a list, draw a picture, do something concrete to identify and acknowledge your intention… or as financial astrologer Raymond Merriman says, “You may even want to visualize what you want via a ritual where you write yourself a check for unlimited abundance (or funds). Of course, it works!”

Seed: a Story About Growing by Nancy Rosanoff

The story of Seed: a Story About Growing, was inspired by a life-long amazement of trees that grow on rocks with barely any soil. These trees not only defy the science of horticulture, they express unique beauty, resilience and creativity. Seed is also the story of an evolution that has occurred within my own life – from accepting the views of others regarding outward appearances of my life circumstances as wrong, or worthy of pity, to being able to trust and grow with the living soul that was unfolding within.

A Talk with Jacob Liberman, OD, Phd, author of Luminous Life: How the Science of Light Unlocks the Art of Living

Early in your optometric career, you experienced a sudden, significant, and lasting improvement in your vision during a meditative experience. Can you tell us about that? I removed my glasses, noticed the room was blurry, closed my eyes, and began my daily meditation practice. Sometime during the process, I became aware of myself and everything else in the room I was meditating in. The fascinating thing about it was that everything I was aware of with my eyes closed was crystal clear, at a level I had never before experienced.

FDA Targets Homeopathic Remedies

In December the Food and Drug Administration announced a major change in policy regarding homeopathic remedies. As reported in The Washington Post, CNN, and NPR, the FDA has proposed a more aggressive approach to testing and possibly banning, homeopathic drugs that it considers dangerous, especially those intended for children and others with serious illnesses, such as cancer. Critics of the policy change note that while most natural remedies are known for having fewer side effects than many mass market drugs, this could open the door to eliminating otherwise effective “non-pharma” remedies.
