Visit Nettle Meadow Farm for Artisanal (and Ethical) Cheese

Nettle Meadow Farm and Artisan Cheese is located about an hour north of Albany, NY. Lorraine Lambiase and Sheila Flanagan have tended to their beautiful farm in the Adirondack Mountains since 1990, with dozens of sheep, over 300 goats, chickens, ducks, and a couple of guard llamas living off of the land and providing their milk to be turned into some of America’s most incredible, award winning cheeses.

Unlike many cheese producers, all the creatures at Nettle Meadow are assured of a loving, happy life and get to “retire” on the farm when they age out of producing milk.

From their website we read: Nettle Meadow’s Sanctuary is also home to a number of retired and rescued farm animals.  We also have several male and female kids each Spring are available for adoption as pets and brush goats.  Our rescue sanctuary includes a variety of farm animals including fowl, horses, older goats, and other assorted barnyard friends. Please visit our sanctuary website at www.KempSanctuaryatNettleMeadow.org for more information and to see how you can help.

You can purchase their prize winning cheese at a variety of sites including  Murray’s Cheese of New York
