This Month’s Recommended Merlian News Articles:
Merryn Jose shares, “ I was pleased to see that Deepak Chopra took the time to attend the protests on Wall Street and raise the consciousness and awareness levels of those participating towards a means of peace and nonviolence. “Chopra led a two minute meditation with the General Assembly, a nightly meeting where the occupiers give updates on the protest, share plans and debate ideas. To allow everyone to hear the speaker without the use of bullhorns or electronic equipment (which are not allowed in the park), the occupiers repeat what the speaker says so that everyone else can hear. They call this the “people’s mic.””
Kenneth Cohen teaches, “Although there are many styles of qigong, they are all based on a practice called Standing Meditation, a way of standing like a tree with deep roots and tall, supple branches. Standing Meditation is said to improve posture, balance, strength, and vitality. It also makes the mind quiet and alert. The practice is based on “the Three Tunings”– gently adjusting the body, breath, and mind so that they make clear and harmonious “music.””
Dena Ventrudo reports, “According to Heather Carlini C.M.Ht, “…solar activity is known to influence human consciousness. Solar flares affect the Central Nervous System (stomach lining), all brain activity (including equilibrium), along with human behaviour and all psycho-physiological (mental-emotional-physical) response. Solar flares can cause us to be nervous, anxious, worrisome, jittery, dizzy, shaky, irritable, lethargic, exhausted, have short term memory problems, heart palpitations, feel nauseous, queasy, and to have prolonged head pressure and headaches.” ”
BBC News explains, “If caught outside in a thunderstorm, find a low spot away from trees, fences, and poles. If your skin tingles and hair stands on end, lightning is about to strike. Crouch down, balancing on the balls of your feet, placing hands on knees with head between them. This makes you into the smallest target possible, and minimizes contact with the ground. Do not put up an umbrella or use a mobile phone – the metal directs the current into the body.”
Environmental Awareness The New Paradigm: Choosing Nature’s Time over Mechanical Time By Jan Johnsen
Jan Johnsen says, “I believe a garden helps us celebrate Nature’s time more fully. As Einstein explained, our “place” in the cosmos is not so much a physical site as it is a time frame. Our reality therefore is a blend of space and time. So I guess the best way to understand Nature’s time is as Ram Dass said, ‘Be Here Now’. And gardens help us do that, in a quiet but glorious way.”

WEBSITE OF THE MONTH:
Anita was born in Singapore of Indian parents, moved to Hong Kong at the age of two, and has lived in Hong Kong most of her life. Because of her background and British education, she is multi lingual and, from the age of two, grew up speaking English, Cantonese and two Indian dialects simultaneously, later learning French at school. She had been working in the corporate field for many years before being diagnosed with cancer in April of 2002. Doctors at the hospital had given Anita just hours to live when she arrived at the hospital that morning in 2006, unable to move as a result of the cancer that had ravaged her body for over three years. Anita shares her experience of entering another dimension and being given a choice of whether to return to life or not. She experienced great clarity and understanding of her life and purpose here on earth.
Anita subsequently chose to return to life when she understood that “heaven” is a state, and not a place. This subsequently led to a remarkable and complete recovery of her health.” The account of Anita’s experience has been documented by NDERF (Near Death Experience Research Foundation) and has been classified as an “Exceptional NDE”.
