The Candle Cafe in NYC

***image2***For a treat, I often take a friend to eat at The Candle Cafe.

The food is so delicious that I even order extra to take home. The Quesadilla, stuffed with portobello mushrooms and red peppers is one of my favorites. The Seitan sandwich is very tasty indeed. The food is fresh, satisfying and reasonably priced.

Please don’t miss out on the desserts… Ooh, I love the Lemon-Tofu cheesecake made with soy. Do try the decadent Chocolate Cake. In fact, my advice is to try all the desserts! just kidding!

Joy Pierson and Bart Potenta are the co-owners of this New York vegan resteraunt. Joy is a nutritional counselor on vegeterian cuisine. Bart is an important spokesperson in the health food world, having written and lectured on the virtues of healthy eating since the mid-1970’s. He was the founder ofThe Candle Cafe predecessor, the Healthy Candle in 1984.

The Candle Cafe Cookbook, with its easy to follow recipes is marvelous. Again this is a great gift for friends who like to cook, and enjoy eating really tasty vegeterian food.
