Tao Porchon-Lynch – the Oldest Yoga Instructor in the World

Tao Porchon Lynch is an inspiration to everyone who knows her. At age 96, she is the Guiness World Record holder as the oldest yoga instructor. Featured on Fox News, TedTalks, the BBC and YouTube, she has been teaching yoga for over 56 years.

On her website, www.taoporchon-lynch.com , you can see her having an audience with the Dalai Lama. She still teaches six days a week and drives herself to work. When asked for the secret to her longevity she replied, “I never think about what I can’t do, I only want to hear about what I can do.” “Yoga is a dance within…and then something inside you grows so big, it spills out like champagne, that’s when you dance on the outside.” ~ Tao Porchon-Lynch

Sleepless in South Salem

| by Cheryl Shainmark

How much do I miss my sleep? Let me count the ways: I can’t remember the last time I woke refreshed from six to eight unbroken hours of rest; hell, I can’t remember much of anything anymore as short term memory seems to be the first casualty of sleep deprivation. I miss dreaming and when I say, “I am tired of waking up like the house is on fire, sweating, with my heart pounding from the surge of hormones,” I mean it literally: I am tired of it.

The World Peace Caravan

In the history of mankind we have not managed to create sustainable world peace yet. Perhaps we need fresher, less jaded, more forward-thinking and guileless minds to help find the solution. Perhaps we should ask our youth for their ideas. After all, they are our next generation of leaders. Why not engage their optimism, ingenuity and dynamism now? The World Peace Caravan, www.worldpeacecaravan.org, is doing just that. A global peace movement that will culminate in a 12 day camel caravan from Petra, Jordan to Jerusalem in December, 2015, the World Peace Caravan is selecting a delegation of 12 Youth Ambassadors, ages 16-24, from a worldwide pool of candidates to spearhead the caravan.

Island Woman on Dreaming with the Animal Spirits by Robert Moss

When we discover any possible power animal connection, we want to (1) study the natural habits and qualities or the animal (2) track it through folklore, mythology and spiritual traditions (3) learn from the animal itself, by journeying to it, and then with it (4) feed and honor the animal in our bodies and our lives. I want to let one of my great teachers on this subject speak to you on this subject. She is a true “wolf woman”. Born Huron, she was adopted by the Mohawk as a child and became the mother of the Wolf Clan of the Kanienkehaka (People of the Stone, as the Mohawk call themselves in their own language) and a powerful atetshents (dream shaman). She called me from across time….

Dr. Oz on GMO’s: Petition the President NOW! by Heather Callaghan

Heather Callaghan writes on www.activistpost.com, One thing’s for sure: when Dr. Oz speaks, people listen. Many a healthfood store and tea shop owner have saluted him when he mentions their goods on air – and their stores fill up. In the past he has drawn cheers and jeers for his fluctuating stances on organic food and genetically modified organisms in the food supply. Today, he makes a very clear stance, as a concerned doctor, against the EPA’s pending approval of a new, toxic pesticide intended for use on genetically engineered crops like corn and soy – this country’s biggest crops and food ingredients.
