January 2005 Merlian Newsletter

www.merliannews.com

Dear Readers,

The month of January was originally named Ianuarius by the ancient Romans, after the god Janus, god of gates and doors, endings and beginnings. The Romans depicted Janus with two heads, allowing him to look backwards and forwards simultaneously as he symbolized the notion that one must emerge through a door or gate in order to enter into a new place.

The commencement of a new year presents a threshold and moment in time where we may be inclined to reflect upon new directions or new paths to follow within the coming months. To honor the arrival of January and the new doorways, directions, passages and opportunities it offers that may be used to help empower our lives, Merlian News is introducing a new category dedicated to the ancient art of Feng Shui.
