The Zoom Epidemic by Marc Grossman, OD, LAc

What is the most common theme among everyone today from students, gas station attendants, doctors, teachers, family gatherings, etc? They are all on their computers or phones as a way to connect with each other. Here are ways to help reduce some of the negative effects that your omputer /cell phones can have on you.

Top ten guidelines

  1. Blinking – especially while working at the computer. When you work at the computer your blink rate decreases sharply. Researchers have discovered that equally important with blinking is blinking completely. Making sure that when you blink you close the eyelids completely makes a large difference in reducing the symptoms of dry eye and computer eye syndrome.
  2. Proper ergonomics -The goal is to optimize the “fit” between each worker and his or her work environment to optimize performance and reduce the risk of eye strain
  3. Diet and Nutrition
  • Avoid sugar and/or artificial sweeteners:
  • Avoid the toxic fats
  • Take Probiotics.

     4. Drink water Drink 8 glasses of water a day. (Or half your body weight)

5. 20/20/20 rule-Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds

6. Use Eye drops when needed-Artificial tears are eyedrops used to lubricate dry eyes and help maintain moisture on the outer                surface  of your eyes.

7. Blue  light filters -glasses for the computer that filter out the blue light have been shown to be helpful in reducing dry eye symptoms

8. Blue Light Filtering Software.

9. Blue Light Filtering Screen Protector

10. Increase computer and smartphone font size

Lucid Dreaming & Astral Travel in the Early Church by Robert Moss

| by Robert Moss

Early fathers of the Christian church were in favor of active dreaming and astral travel. Tertullian, who famously observed that “most people derive their knowledge of God from dreams” urged Christians who found themselves in captivity, perhaps on the way to martyrdom, to get out and about in their astral bodies: Though the body is shut in, though the flesh is confined, all things are open to the spirit. In spirit, then, roam abroad; in spirit walk about, not setting before you shady paths or long colonnades, but the way which leads to God.

Back to the Mother: The Life of Sacred Music by Kalidas

Rooted in the Bhakti yoga tradition, my music became a way to honor the lives of some of the great beings that has made my life rich and meaningful. Bhakti yoga consists of channeling all of one’s energy to the Divine. The theory is simple: by thinking of the Divine, by contemplating the Divine, we can become Divine. Bhakti yoga sees the different religions as various paths to God. There are infinite paths actually because there are an infinite amount of beings in the universe. In this tradition, all are embraced. Every one of us has the seed of divinity, no matter how deeply it may be buried.

Good for You Desserts by Priscilla Warshowsky

In our house, we eat desserts that are home made.  Since I do the cooking/baking and I am not a chocolate fan, I use carob instead which I find has a rich and delicious taste.  I also like to experiment with different kinds of flours and have found that almond, oat, and cassava ones are the best.  I do use coconut flour but sparingly as it is dense and will make the cake or cookies heavier.  For sweetener, I use organic maple syrup and for an extra zing, almond and vanilla extracts.  Melted coconut oil makes everything moist.
