New York Bans Plastic Bags

As reported recently in The New York Times, New York state will ban most plastic bag use, starting next March. New York joins California and Hawaii as the only states to take such sweeping measures to combat the proliferation of these non-recyclable plastic bags. Advocates of the ban cite the spectacle of litter everywhere as well as the carbon cost of producing the bags as reasons enough to support the new legislation.

The Unlikely Vegan Gets His NY Fix by Phil Shainmark

| by Phil Shainmark

So, my brother-in-law Dan and I went to NY, and it was an awesome trip from start to finish. My father picked us up at the airport and took us to Royal Palace in White Plains, NY. I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s worth talking about again. Dan and I were famished, so a buffet was definitely the way to go. We loaded up our plates and went to town. The staff there is so great, asking us what we liked and didn’t like, and talking to us about India and where the foods come from when we expressed an interest. I will go there any time I’m in the area. The next day we went to Long Island to see my grandparents, and go to Town Bagel (I needed my NY bagel fix).

Endings and Beginnings by Lisa Karmen

| by Lisa Karmen

We are living in extraordinary, evolutionary times. It is important to know and to see that there is new life (and vast potential!) growing in the rubble. 2017 was a “1” year in numerology representing the beginning of a pioneering new cycle. 2018 was a “2” year representing the Divine Feminine and the development of peace, balance, cooperation, partnership, and unity between differing entities. 2019 is a “3” year. 3 is the first number given the meaning ALL, it represents creative power and growth. 3 is a moving forward of energy overcoming duality, it is manifestation and synthesis. 3 is also the number of cycles: birth, life, death; beginning, middle end; past, present, future.

The Unlikely Vegan Dines Out by Phil Shainmark

| by Phil Shainmark

So since last time, I’ve tried some new things – Egyptian food for one – at a place called Pots here in Las Vegas. They have the usual hummus and babaghanoush, but they also offer a tasting menu, and my wife, my mother, and I all tried it. It was excellent. Ive noticed that being Vegan has made me move out of my comfort zone with a lot of foods. Egyptian was never something I would have tried in the past, but I’m glad I did now.

Achieving Harmony in the Workplace by Sahar Huneidi

The following is an extract form a Harmony & Balance report I conducted on a business and their offices to assess the principle of harmony & balance. In the same way that everything is formed in the universe through the primordial aspects of Yin and Yang, which must always be in balance; everything is also formed by the “content and containeraspects.

Keep Making It Simpler by Marc Lesser

The following is an excerpt from Seven Practices of a Mindful Leader: Lessons from Google and a Zen Monastery Kitchen, by Marc Lesser. Whenever I lead trainings or give talks on using these seven mindfulness practices, I can often feel the room’s energy shift as I describe the seventh practice, “Keep making it simpler.” People experience a sense of relief, as though a weight has been lifted. Their shoulders drop and they relax. Though we yearn for and need practices to support our leadership, mindfulness, and growth, we also have a basic and primal yearning to let go, to let it all go — all our concerns and judgments about our health, well-being, improvement, effort, and struggles over everything, including these practices. What a relief to stop struggling!
