I was very impressed a while ago when I read Dawson Church‘s book, Mind to Matter. Now I have read his new book, Bliss Brain, which is equally as fascinating. What I found most interesting is Church’s combination of tapping, Heart Math (video), and meditation, in a technique he named ECO-Meditation (video). Instead of taking hours, this method has helped people to reach a relaxed, meditative – even blissful – state in just a few minutes. The autonomic system is relaxed, the “fight or flight” response is quieted, and the body begins to release endorphins. This state is the same as that achieved by master meditators with years of experience, but with this method a novice can do it!
Church’s method starts with EFT to clear the emotional state before relaxing. Dr. Mercola wrote that “This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmation works to clear the “short-circuit” — the emotional block — from your body’s bioenergy system, thus restoring your mind and body’s balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.”
Clearing that “short circuit” makes all the difference. When I first tried the ECO meditation, using the video, I found that I quickly dropped into a deep state of relaxation – I don’t know if it’s his soothing voice, or his specific instructions, but it happened so quickly that I was astonished! I would highly recommend this method for people who have trouble meditating, or those who want to take their meditation practice to the next level.
